Welcome to Zorus, a DNSFilter product! This guide helps you quickly set up an account to start protecting your clients’ networks from internet threats. It includes links to all the support content you’ll need to get started, as well as next steps to get the most out of your Zorus trial.

But first, let’s make sure your environment is prepped for deployment.

Visual Learner? Here’s a quick video that covers how to get setup in under 4 minutes

Prep your environment

Though set up is quick and easy, there are a few things that don’t play nice with how Zorus protects your endpoints. Check these common issues to confirm you’re set up for a successful deployment!

  • Clear the environment of any existing DNS filtering applications
  • Confirm firewall ports are not closed, specifically port 7798
  • If you use systems like ThreatLocker, place them in learning mode or allow Zorus to prevent issues

🚨 Important: Zero Trust VPNs are not compatible with Zorus because they attempt to retrieve traffic in the same methods, causing conflicts. Do not utilize both security tools in the same environment.

Deploy Zorus in a test environment

We recommend starting with a test environment while you explore all the Zorus features. This is great during the trial, but also a pro move when selling Zorus to a client: set up this basic deployment to show value in minutes.

Follow these guides in order to get filtering fast:

  1. Create a new customer profile for the test environment (step 4 in the linked guide)
    1. Keep the default Global Policy in place, but you can come back to modify and refine settings for the Customer at any time
  2. From the Customer Profile, navigate to Endpoints to generate an install token
  3. Download the endpoint installer
    1. From the side navigation, select Downloads
    2. Choose the Windows or macOS installer. Follow the prompts to install the agent
    3. RMM, MDM, and Scripted deployment methods are available in-app. See our Help Center for tool-specific guides
  4. Test the endpoint is successfully deployed
    1. Open a new browser and navigate to blocked.zorustech.com

🎉 That’s it! You’ll see a block page, which means the deployment is successful and you’re now filtering DNS traffic according to the Global Policy.
